Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
All children at Old Earth get the support they need to learn, play and have fun together. For some children with special educational needs or disabilities, this might mean some extra help or resources are needed.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENCo) is Mrs Ruth Freeman and she ensures children get the support they need. Mrs Freeman is a highly experienced SENCO, having held the role since 2003 and leading the Elland Cluster SENCO group. However, it’s a team effort, with our teachers, teaching assistants, parents/carers and specialist services all playing a role.

“I have been a SENCO for over 15 years and over that time I have supported many families in identifying and assessing children’s needs and making sure they receive the support they need to make progress in their education. For families who are new to all this, there can be a lot of questions and worries, but we have lots of experience and with the right support, please rest assured that your child can thrive.
I really enjoy my role as SENCO as I want to help all children fulfil their full potential and it is rewarding to work with parents to achieve this goal.”
