Safeguarding

We take our responsibilities in the safeguarding of children at our school very seriously, following the guidance set out by the Department for Education. All members of our school community play a part in keeping our children safe. Here you can find out about the systems we have in place to do so, and what to do if you have any concerns about the safety of our children.

If you have any concerns about a child – please do act!

Who to contact if you have a safeguarding concern

If you have any concerns about the safety of a child then please contact Mr Daniel Burns (Headteacher) who is the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).  Mrs Emma Dixon (Deputy Headteacher) and Mrs Jane Holden (Welfare Officer) are both Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads and they can be contacted in the absence of the DSL.

If there are any concerns that an adult in the school setting is placing children at risk or potential risk then this should be referred to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).  Concerns should be passed on to the Headteacher, Mr Daniel Burns or Mrs Dixon, the Deputy Headteacher.

If the concern is about the Headteacher this should be reported to the Chair of Governors, Mrs Amanda Aspin (amanda.aspin.oldearth.calderdale.sch.uk).

Mr John Stevens is the Safeguarding Governor.

Calderdale have a team of Local Authority Designated Officers. They can be contacted on 01422 394055 or by email at: LADOAdmin@calderdale.gov.uk

LADO flowchart available here.
